About me
Ellie Kayu Ng is a Brooklyn-based painter whose self-portraits explore identity, aspiration, and transformation through fashion. By renting and wearing garments she doesn’t own, Ng stages herself in imagined roles and captures these moments on canvas, blurring the line between who we are and who we wish to be. She holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art, and is a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant. Her work has been exhibited internationally, with features in New American Paintings, Friend of the Artist, and Forbes, and shown in solo and group exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Brussels, Tokyo, Milan, and Paris.
